English Dub Review: True Beauty “Our first love”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
The Goddess election is over, and Jugyeong finally has time to enjoy her remaining time in high school. But there is one thing she still has to do: tell Suho how she feels.
Our Take:
Now that my blood pressure has decreased and Sujin got the punishment she deserved, we can finally spend a day without any worries. Of course, by “we”, I mean Jugyeong, who has finally been accepted by everyone as the school’s new “goddess”. Considering all that shit she had to put up with, I’m personally glad that Jugyeong got a well-deserved closure to her torment, even if the show is more irritating than genuinely mindful. However, we still have one more situation to resolve before we close this season for good.
The plot in “Our first love” follows the aftermath of the school competition, in which Jugyeong begins to live her new peaceful life without any bullies slowing her down. As for Sujin, she mysteriously disappeared following her defeat in the competition. It sounds like her getting the taste of her own medicine was too much for that bitch to handle. For that, I say it serves her right. But, the real issue at hand was Jugyeong and Suho’s struggle to tell each other their true feelings. Thankfully, they are able to do so just before Suho leaves to take care of his father, who is now in a coma due to a stroke.
It’s easy to point out that Jugyeong and Suho’s confessions were undeniably corny, but I can admit that they weren’t without the show’s sweetness backing them up. But that’s not all that the episode offered. With Suho gone for who knows how long, Seojun found the chance to confess to Jugyeong, starting their own relationship behind Suho’s back. If you want to end the season with a shocking twist, you might as well include a backup relationship in secret. It would be interesting to see how this direction would go if it continues with a second season. However, considering my mixed feelings toward this messy, middle-of-the-road series and Seojun’s late confession, I won’t be surprised if it didn’t.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
