English Dub Review: True Beauty “Goddess Livestream 2”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
The final mission of the goddess election turned into a war zone. In her weakest moment, Jugyeong is getting backstabbed by one of her dearest friends who teamed up with her former bully Semi to expose her bare face. But is this really the plan?
Our Take:
Just when you think Jugyeong’s life couldn’t get any shittier, the show decides to throw in the old bully from her old school, Semi, into the mix. Even worse, one of Jugyeong’s new friends, Chaerin, is working with Sujin and Semi to expose her goddess identity. I swear, this series is becoming more like a competition to see how to make Jugyeong more depressed than she already is the more it progresses. At this point, I want the series to end with Jugyeong going full-on “Carrie” on everyone who bullied her, especially Sujin. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen in the manhwa, but it would’ve been better than having to sit through the constant toxicity Jugyeong’s been receiving.
Thankfully, the episode provided a much more satisfying outcome than I previously thought. It turns out that Chaerin’s betrayal was part of her new plan to expose Sujin as the manipulative monster she is. Thanks to a necklace that contains a small camera, Chaerin and Sua recorded Sujin’s truth behind the false rumors and her jealousy toward Jugyeong. But wait! It gets even better. Suho, who previously did the wrong thing by agreeing to Sujin’s blackmail, finally stood up to that bitch during the livestream. It may not be enough for me to forgive Suho for breaking Jugyeong’s heart, but it’s a start. With Sujin now receiving the same torment Jugyeong has endured, Jugyeong is officially crowned the new school goddess.
I have waited at least seven episodes for Sujin to finally get what she deserves, and I was not disappointed. She had it coming for way too long, and for her to finally get her just desserts was enough to make me happy. It was also nice that Chaerin finally got the chance to shine in this episode by being a double agent and putting an end to Sujin’s reign of high school popularity terror. However, this isn’t the end of the season, as we have one more episode to wrap things up.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
