English Dub Review: Nina the Starry Bride “The First Princess”

Overview:

In Sett’s absence, the castle’s guard captain blatantly abuses his power. Nina quickly concocts a plan to put him in his place. However, Sett immediately confronts her about it once he returns.

Our Take:

I feel like this show is starting to hit its stride. Nina is coming into her own as a character, and I love how she uses her brain to solve problems—well, for the most part. To put a guard captain in his place, she punches him in the chest after learning about pressure points from one of her attendants. I loved that part because it showed she could hold her own in many ways, she’s no longer just a simple damsel in distress.

What is less exciting is how this episode comes to an end. Sett is taking Nina to Galgada which is something he has never done with any other bride candidate before. This is the good part but on the way, Nina’s carriage is involved in an accident and tumbles over a cliff. During the crash Sett’s precious bird also named Nina escapes. Nina begins to look for Nina (boy is that confusing) and as she searches she runs into a tiger. The episode ends as it lunges at her, now I’m sure that someone will come to her rescue but with how this show has gone I wouldn’t be surprised if Nina is seriously injured.
