English Dub Review: Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? “Syr”

Overview:

Syr is not the only one who has feelings for Bell. When she notices the shift in her friend’s behavior, she asks Ryu a question that shakes the elf to the core.

Our Take:

If you’ve read any of my reviews for this series you would know that one of my biggest problems with this story is how it treats its main heroine, Ais Wallenstein. She has been so nonexistent in the plot for so long that you could probably argue she isn’t the main heroine anymore. It feels like this is becoming your run-of-the-mill harem story. You might have read my preview line and now you’re wondering why it seemed positive, well let me tell you.

I’ve decided I’m going to enjoy the ride, other characters are enjoyable as well but now that I look at it with hindsight I’m starting to notice a trend. Each season seems to focus on a different heroine and how they eventually fall for Bell. With this season it seems we are going to be focusing on Syr and by proxy perhaps Freya.

By the nature of dubs happening later than subs nowadays and I’m active in a few anime groups it’s hard to completely avoid spoilers but I find I can avoid the big ones. I’ll still see some screenshots here and there and that’s also the case with this series. That is also part of my excitement because it seems like this season is going to get spicy but screenshots don’t carry context so I can’t wait to see where we go with this.
