OUR TAKE
I don’t know what the hell is going on with HiDive and their crappy site but I could not access this episode on their site yesterday when I needed to, so you get this review now instead and I get to pile more work onto my already busy load of Thursday shows! Hopefully this is resolved by next week, but in the meantime, this is a pretty wholesome and sweet opening to what I’ve heard is a very wholesome and sweet series. Ganta is a pretty normal dude who has a pretty normal life, but his insomnia makes him feel isolated from everyone because he’s awake for a period of time when everyone else is asleep. Thus, when he meets Isaki who has to deal with the same thing, this gives them a unique connection that they don’t share with anyone else. So, they can snuggle up against each other in the observatory to actually catch some z’s and then, when everyone at night is passed out, they can basically run wild and do whatever they like! Sounds like the beginning of a pretty solid romance, or at least that’s where I assume things are going since romance is one of the genres.
Very simple but effective premise out of the way, where do I think this story is going to go in its remaining dozen episodes? Well, all of these episodes came out subbed over a year and a half ago, so I could just go and watch all of those so I don’t have to guess but…I don’t know if I have the time for that, especially right now. So, I’m gonna go out on a limb and think that if the thing these two have in common is that they’re awake at night, and they like to nap in an observatory, and all the episode titles are relating to astronomy…that they’re probably going to start going stargazing. That sounds pretty fun and a good way to add an extra flavor to this show. Right now the only central characters are Ganta and Isaki but I’m sure we’re going to meet some more principle cast members since we’ve got twelve more episodes and while I think these two are fun enough, I cannot honestly expect they’ll carry the entire series just by themselves.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
