English Dub Review: I Parry Everything “I Parry Divine Wrath”

Overview (Spoilers Below):

Noor must use all his strength to parry his toughest challenge yet: a beam of magical light!

Our Take:

Usually, the final couple of episodes are where shows with monster-of-the-week episodes get a bit more interesting, even though they don’t offer much to the stakes.  I Parry Everything is no exception, with Noor and his trustworthy allies seeking to bring Deridas to justice.  But, of course, Noor’s obliviousness to what the hell is going on makes him believe that the tyrannical emperor is nothing but a scared, harmless man.  Regardless, Noor’s parrying has once again got the team out of a pickle when he deflects the empire’s massive cannon capable of destroying half the country, showcasing the impeccable strength of his counter.  With the generators down and Deridas punished for his crimes, Noor unintentionally prevented a deadly war between the two kingdoms with his parrying.

It’s pretty humorous that someone with little to no self-confidence becomes the kingdom’s hero they didn’t intend to be.  But at the same time, we’re already at a point where we wish Noor would get the hint of what he’s capable of already.  His generosity shines brighter than his clueless nature, especially when he allows Rolo to live a normal life inside the kingdom.  However, regarding the novelty of this character trait, the show didn’t offer much else for me to make itself unique despite its mildly enjoyable merits. That includes Noor “protecting” Deridas from his generals by throwing him all over the place despite being generous toward older people.  Thankfully, we’re already down to the final episode, so it should at least conclude this season on a decent note instead of a tedious whimper.
