Blu-Ray Review: South Park (Not Suitable for Children)

Of all of the animated comedies in all of the worlds, quite possibly the most important animated franchise to keep home releases for. Proof is in the pudding over the course of 26 seasons, South Park has a half-a-dozen episodes not available to stream anywhere including MAX who currently has the exclusive streaming rights to the show’s entire library refuses to stream “Cartoon Wars Part I” and “Cartoon Wars Part II” alongside “Super Best Friends”, “200,” and “201” due to the fact that those episodes feature depictions of Muhammad that some deem offensive. Fortunately, you can own those episodes if you opt to purchase back catalogs of South Park seasons on DVD, but try and stream that shit, no chance.

Which brings us to South Park (Not Suitable For Children) on Blu-Ray. On its, there aren’t a lot of special features here. Gone are the days of deleted scenes, commentaries, or even a poster, and for an MSRP of $25.99, without all of these features the price starts a bit steep. At least if you had a season of a show you would get six to ten episodes, but we’re just getting a 45-minute made-for-streaming movie event. It’s a good one, don’t get me wrong, but nowadays a home release needs a bit more oomph at that price to make it all worth it.

Completionists, archivists, or as a stocking stuffer for the holiday season, South Park (Not Suitable For Children) is a great find for the South Park die-hards.
