Review: The Legend of Vox Machina “Cloak and Dagger”; “Siege & Silence” ;“Thordak’s Throne”
Overview:
In the ruins of Whitestone, Vox Machina makes a startling discovery – a clue from Ripley luring them to her remote island lair. Before they can resume the fight against the Chroma Conclave, they must deal with the serpent who’s been nipping at their heels.
After a devastating loss, Vox Machina must take the fight to Thordak with one less member. They travel across Exandria recruiting allies to face down the Cinder King in his lair. Will the gathered might of the world be enough? Or will Thordak turn Tal’Dorei to ash?
Thordak strikes back! The combined armies of Whitestone and Syngorn are in trouble as the dragon’s ambush is sprung. Betrayed by Raishan and left with nowhere to run, Vox Machina scrambles to find a new plan before their allies are wiped out.
Our Take(Spoilers):
With how these episodes played out I am going to have to talk about some heavy spoilers. If that’s something you would like to avoid then get out now and go watch the episodes! Trust me you won’t regret it.
Still here? Okay let’s get it into it then. The first thing I would like to talk about is Lance Reddick who voices our main villain Thordak. Now that Thordak is dead (at the moment at least) Lance’s last role is over. In case you didn’t know Lance died in March of 2023 due to heart disease. Luckily, he had already recorded his lines which when you look at the dates is amazing in itself. Lance Reddick was an incredibly talented actor and he will be sorely missed and I think that Thordak was one of his final roles makes this show all the more special.
This three episode stretch was absolutely brutal, I cried a few times. I knew that some members of Vox Machina weren’t going to make it but I didn’t think Percy was going to be one of them. I thought him and Vex were going to get a happily ever after. Seeing this group handle loss was inspiring but was also realistic. If you’ve ever lost someone before you will know exactly how the team feels, but hopefully you won’t have to worry about fighting a world ending dragon after. Percy wasn’t the only death and some of them were pretty gut wrenching. When the cast told us to expect to hurt and cry they weren’t joking.
Raishan came to help after seemingly betraying the group, but then later actually betrayed the group. Was it surprising? Not at all but with one episode left (I think) I wonder how they’re going to tie everything up. I’m hopeful we get another season but with them working on The Mighty Nein I can’t help but wonder what that means for these loveable idiots.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
