Review: Everybody Still Hates Chris “Everybody Still Hates Bullies; Everybody Still Hates Career Tests”
OVERVIEW (SPOILERS)
Chris learns from some drag queens how to deal with a bully, and later has to find a replacement porno tape to avoid being killed by another bully.
OUR TAKE
We’re finally at the halfway point of the season! Or at least that’s what I have to assume, as the promotion for this pair did not specify it as a season finale, and we know based on a couple of interviews that there will be twenty episodes in this season. So, until we get the other ten episodes at “a later date”, this will be it for Chris Rock based animated comedies for the time being. I know, I’m just as crushed about it as you are, nameless reader. But how are these last two episodes? Well, in true fashion to the rest of the show, they are…JUST fine. Not anything egregious or amazing, but perfectly competently made pieces of television. We’ve got the “learn how to deal with a bully” sort of episode (which I’m honestly surprised it took so long to do) and an episode that doesn’t really have much to do with its title. I can already see how the ninth episode could get decryed as being “too woke” for having drag queens featured in a positive light…if any body was talking about this show enough to get a right wing grifter’s attention on it, i mean.
The other episode, the tenth, seems just sort of like it was a bunch of urban comedy premises that were on a dartboard or pulled out of a hat. They have to replace a…porno tape that was…recorded over by the little sister…and have a brief musical segment but…they get mugged so…they give him a different porno instead. I can just see the pitch meeting now. Honestly I’m kinda glad that this is not the actual finale because this would be pretty weak. And seeing as we may not get back to this show for awhile, I guess I can sum up my experiences with it so far. For fans of the original live action series, you’ll probably get something out of it to see where these characters left off. If you’re coming in mostly blind like I am, you’ll probably get an average animation viewing experience that could be substituted for just about any other currently airing cartoon. Maybe they’re still finding their animation sea legs but this show doesn’t really have much of its own flavor yet. Perhaps it’ll find it with that second half, but in the meantime, I don’t expect to be back for these first ten until I absolutely have to.

"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
