Review: Bob’s Burgers “Saving Favorite Drive-In”
Overview
When the Belchers visit the local drive-in, Bob comes up with a plan to save the theater from closing; Linda accidentally insults another mom while on a group text chain; Louise and Gene hide from Tina after stealing some of her favorite candy.
Our Take
Honestly, if this week’s episode of Bob’s Burgers was just an animated adaptation of The Fly done in the style of the show I would be like a pig in shit. In fact, if all future movies just wanted to release in Bob’s Burgers style I’d be totally fine with it.
For my money, technology is the pathos of this week’s episode and that’s even in the face of Hollywood having to deal with trying to catch up with the growing trends that are coming to pass. For starters, the flashback scenes set up nicely how movie-going used to be, but between Louise and Bob’s problems with their own phones which took up most of their attention, those places are being fewer and far between. The Katie Crown-written episode does a swell job of showing all sides of the conversation that should fit well with the families who tune in to watch this show.
For my money, the best part of the episode was the ongoing flashback sequences showing a young Bob and his first love interest Ramona (voiced by Paulina Alexis). The spark between these two were VERY real, so much so I’d love to see future episodes maybe even see Ramona again all grown up and see if those sparks are still there between her and Bob.
Overall a sweet and blue-tasting episode of Bob’s Burgers that doesn’t skimp on the pickles.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
