English Dub Review: Oshi No Ko “Sun”

Overview:

Akane became an actress because she idolized Kana and wanted to be like her. However, one should never meet their heroes.

Our Take:

I know they say never to meet your heroes, and I understand that Akane was jaded after she met with Kana, but I think if she knew what was going on, she wouldn’t judge her so harshly. Kana was a child star who found out the hard way that once you become an adult the work tends to dry up. She found a new way of acting and that was by building up the talent around her or acting down to them in certain cases. This play was the perfect opportunity for Akane to share a stage with Kana and have an acting duel.

Unfortunately, old habits die hard and Kana notices that Akane is shining bright and fades to the background. That’s not what Akane wanted, she wanted to duel as equals but she doesn’t know Kana like Aqua does. One of the only people to get the most out of Kana has been Aqua and you can tell it bothers Akane a bit. But her pride is on the line at the moment and she will work with Aqua to get to Kana.
