English Dub Review: No Longer Allowed in Another World “I Cannot Die Until I’ve Finished Writing Your Story”

OVERVIEW (SPOILERS)

Sensei learns important details about Yoriko’s past that could be the key to defeating her.

OUR TAKE

Huh, that wrapped up a little earlier than I expected, but that’s fine I guess! I kind of assumed the business with the Fallen Angel of Greed was gonna take up the rest of the season but now we’ve still got one more episode to go. In contrast to when they fought the Fallen Angel of Gluttony, it seems Yoriko is worthy of a sympathetic backstory. And as we’ve seen with other enemy Other Worlders with sympathetic backstories, that will insure she, and her temporarily aged younger sister Hikari, will be able to make it back to their time and world to start life over from where they left off. Considering what happened with Greed, I kind of assumed that none of the Fallen Angels would end up being given the chance to be un-Isekai’d, but I guess that just goes to show how truly awful Gluttony really was. It also shows there was a bit more thought put into how Yoriko corresponds to her “sin”, which in this case is because she dared to dream of a life beyond taking care of her sickly sister, and THEN almost DELIBERATELY killed said sister when Hikari got Isekai’d not long after her and ended up seemingly having greater power, which took attention away from Yoriko’s new elf dad, ER I MEAN teacher.

Once again, this show continues to impress by using its multiple Other Worlders with differing lives and perspectives to help tell its story, unlike OTHER ISEKAI SHOWS I COULD MENTION that don’t often use this potential story avenue and even turn it into a joke more often than not. And with that, we still have five Fallen Angels left to deal with but only one episode remaining in the season. Obviously not everything is going to be wrapped up in this last episode, and hopefully there will be a second season on the way, but now that we’ve seen two of them dealt with in different ways, it does make one wonder what will happen to the rest. It seems the main factor in if they can return home is if Sensei likes their backstory enough, and usually that’s if they’re a decent person and not a sadistic monster. But something tells me it won’t be that simple with the other five, if only to keep this from getting predictable and boring. We’ll find out either way next week in the season finale!
