English Dub Review: Nina the Starry Bride “The Day of Departure”
Overview:
As Nina and Azure’s feelings for one another deepen, Nina becomes desperate to find a way to protect him from whoever is targeting him. She’s given the opportunity in a one-on-one meeting with the king.
Our Take:
Man oh man where do I start? On the one hand, I love where this is (seemingly) going but also hate where I think this might be going. Let me try to explain what I mean by that. Nina has grown a lot as a character and I love that she goes against Azure’s wishes to save his life because she has come to realize she loves him. He is of course in love with her and in a refreshing twist, they both come to terms with this a lot quicker than most romances. But Azure decides to be a bit selfish and keep Nina to himself but Nina needs to go to have an upper hand to keep Azure safe because as it turns out the king is a huge piece of shit.
What I’m not a fan of is that in a post-credits scene, we are introduced to Nina’s fiance. He seems like an interesting character and I don’t want to judge before we get to know him but something tells me we are going to get a love triangle between this guy and Azure. I’m not exactly surprised we are going in this direction but I am a bit disappointed. With how this show was handling the romance I thought we might get a refreshing shoujo story but now it seems like it’s heading in an all too familiar direction. I do hope to be pleasantly surprised if I’m wrong though.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
