English Dub Review: I Parry Everything “I Parry the Deadman”

Overview (Spoilers Below):
A dead man who was once an S-rank adventurer has become a vicious murderer.  Meanwhile, a threat on a scale beyond human comprehension appears in the sky above the capital.

Our Take:
With one dangerous problem out of the way, another formidable one arrives to test Noor’s parrying skills.  From the looks of this mysterious person, this opponent seems to be no joke.  This deranged stranger is revealed to be a former S-rank adventurer, Deadman Zadu, who comes to collect Rolo’s corpse.  However, just because he’s an adventurer, that doesn’t make him a nice and honorable person you’d want to hire for a quest.  Zadu has an infamous history involving his murderous intent, especially when regarding innocent civilians.  As a result, most of the governments declared him dead so that no one would be able to target him.  Of course, despite his formidable skills and impenetrable daggers, Zadu was no match for Noor’s incredible parries and Ines’s Holy Shield.
The episode is yet another opponent-of-the-week storyline involving Noor conquering an obstacle by parrying despite his misunderstanding of the situation.  Fortunately, it’s not to the point where it slows down the season’s plot.  The reason is the much bigger threat the Demonfolk is sending to destroy the capital: the dreadful Dragon of Calamity.  Based on Rein’s horrified reaction, it seems like Noor would have to rely on more than just his parrying to combat that formidable beast.
