English Dub Review: Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest “A Card in the Hand”
OVERVIEW (SPOILERS)
Natsu’s battle ends when Wraith remembers some of his own past, and the battle to protect Aldoron heats up.
OUR TAKE
Well that was…certainly a decision they made with Wraith. Yeah, apparently being in Makarov is someone Wraith knew pretty well while he was alive because he was also a part of Fairy Tail. So after a very revealing flashback, he just…passes on and that’s that for the battle. Awfully convenient for that, I would say. I mean, I was kinda looking forward to seeing how Natsu overcame fighting a literal ghost by perhaps coming up with a clever trick involving this newfound flexibility with fighting outside of his body, but nope! It really makes you wonder what the heck was going on with the author at the time if this was the solution he came up with. I guess sometimes you write yourself into a corner or have way too much stuff to do so some things just have to have really rushed and unimaginative endings, which is just…a shame. So yeah, another win for Natsu, this time not even because Natsu even did anything. Hopefully whatever fight he has next will actually allow him to finish it. I can’t believe that would be a request at this point, but here we are, hoping both participants actually get to finish their own fights.
As for everything else going on, most of the fights are either over or simply not very interesting, such as Wendy’s and Erza’s, but at least we’ve got more of the mind controlled Fairy Tail members regaining their senses and rejoining the good guys. And we’ve got some major progress with Natsu finally meeting Touka, who did seem to have a big Juvia sized crush on him for whatever reason, so hopefully that’ll keep The White Mage down for a time. Also, two of the five orbs that I guess protect Aldoron from The White Mage’s control have been destroyed, meaning the clock is ticking on whether Fairy Tail will actually be able to protect the power of the biggest dragon in the world and the town all of these civilians live on. So basically, we have some incremental progress and steps forward, just not often in the most interesting or clever ways, so hopefully that changes as the stakes are being raised and we inch closer to the final part of this arc. Then again this is the longest arc in this sequel series so far, so it’s natural that it will take a little more time to get to the end.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
