English Dub Review: Blue Lock “Tryouts”
Overview:
35 forwards remain after the 2nd selection at Blue Lock. With a big match against Japan’s U-20s in three weeks, Ego announces that the team will be centered around the top 6 players. The tryouts for the rest of the positions begin.
Our Take:
You ever watch every episode and movie of something but then when a new season starts you feel lost? Perhaps I just need to refresh my memory but where I remember leaving off with Isagi is not where he is. I thought that he was chosen to be on a team with Rin but now Rin and others ranked in the top six by Ego are forming their own teams to take on Japan’s U-20 team. The other thing that had me a little perplexed was Ego saying that the people not in the top six will need to show off how they can be a cohesive team. Huh? Wasn’t this whole thing about being cutthroat and not caring about anyone else? Maybe there’s more to it that I’m not seeing yet but it was a bit confusing.
This episode was more of an introduction to what the new setup is for everyone. We didn’t get any soccer played which is where the animation team has previously shined for this series. It was nice to get to see these characters again and I look forward to some awesome sports action in the future.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
