English Dub Review: Berserk of Gluttony “Devouring”

Overview:

After forcing his way into the Domain of E, Fate must face Northern and the Divine Dragon as they move to kill Roxy. As Fate pushes the limits of his newfound power, Gluttony threatens to overwhelm him.

Our Take:

This episode was mindless fun, and I enjoyed it for that. Fate used some abilities I didn’t even know he had, but since it let him come out on top, I was cool with it. Honestly, the final fights were a little anticlimactic, but that’s not what interests me about this story. Fate has become overpowered at this point, so there have to be other things that interest you. One of the things that bothered me about Greed was that for him to level up Fate would essentially have to give him all of his stats, resetting to zero. With Fate on the precipice of going berserk because of gluttony, he gave all his stats to Greed so he would be easier to take down. I thought that was a cool twist on this ability.

I wasn’t a fan of the cliffhanger ending. I thought we were going to see Fate and Roxy have a bigger conversation, but after he healed up, he skipped town and left a note. He had to sacrifice an arm to defeat Northern but because of some convenient magic, he was able to grow it back. That doesn’t bother me per se but it took a lot of wind out of the sails for this episode. As a season it was good and I’m looking forward to the review but I just hope we get more soon.
