English Dub Review: Berserk of Gluttony “Death March”

Overview:

Since returning from the Great Ravine, Fate finds himself in enough altercations around Babylon to get him in trouble with Roxy herself, who challenges him to a duel. Shortly afterward, a death march approaches the city flanked by a masked individual.

Our Take:

I was a little thrown off with Roxy and Fate preparing to duel at the beginning of the episode considering where we left them last time. I thought they were finally settling the issue from an episode or two ago when Fate got into an altercation with everyone at the guild hall but that doesn’t seem to be the case. It seems that Fate had issues with people a lot offscreen, I’m not opposed to that per se but it was a confusing way to start the episode. But it was nice to see Fate lose the duel because he noticed that Roxy was carrying a torch for him. She used the gem he gave her previously to make an adorable necklace.

Remember when I said I hoped Eris wasn’t the bad one trying to assassinate Roxy? While she isn’t out of the woods yet, at least, it wasn’t her fighting Fate in this episode. I want to know why the would-be assassin is doing his best to look like Fate. He’s wearing the same costume Fate was wearing before his recent upgrade. The only difference is he has a weapon of deadly sins, and it’s a gunblade which if you ever played Final Fantasy 8 you would know is badass.

The secret is out now, Roxy knows that the masked man is Fate. This has me very excited for the next (and last) episode. I’m hopeful this gets a second season eventually because the last half of this show has been top-tier.
