Tammy is upset that an elite country club only takes men.
“Guys Day” I think is an idea every guy in middle America can get behind. That once-a-week thing where guys get together with their buddies, watch football, grab a pie, and destroy a case of Natty Lites. THAT’S the American way. During my rambunctious guys nights, I will admit that I’ve always wondered what the girls do when we’re not around. Fortunately, Universal Basic Guys sets a hilarious premise that perhaps helps answer this question.
Like Mark, I’m not a golf guy, but a lot guys are golf guys, so the premise works for me just fine. And really this is the all-too-relatable tale of a guy just trying to get a nice afternoon with the boys instead of putting up with wifey shit. I get it, we’ve all been there. The manner in which Mark gets there is pretty great, and Hank’s pitch for clear mustard had me ROLLING. Add in the fact that Mark’s gang of pals (including this new character Daniel) have a tendency to spice up any situation, and we’ve got ourselves the start of a nice little gaggle of characters in which to play with in the future.
We haven’t talked much about Talia Genevieve’s portrayal of “Tammy” and we should because the first-time voice actor really shines here. For starters, we learn that Tammy isn’t just a wet blanket at home, but pretty much everywhere else as well regardless of the company. Next, to see her and her pals turn into a superhero team is very entertaining and Talia comes across just as strong as anyone in the industry. Here’s hoping this gig leads to the budding actress getting more work in the future.
Universal Basic Guys continues to showcase its perfection of knowing exactly WHAT audience it wants to bring to the table. The ratings have been pretty good so far, and if the producers continue to serve up helpings like this I think this one sticks around for a long time.
John is the Chief Editor and Founder of Bubbleblabber.com. While at first a part-time project, Bubbleblabber quickly grew into a full-fledged operation and officially became a company in 2014. When John isn't running a business full-time, he likes to go to concerts with your mother.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
