English Dub Review: The Unwanted Undead Adventurer “Dragonblood Flower”

Overview (Spoilers Below):
Rentt heads off to a dangerous swamp in search of a medicinal herb for a group of young orphans.

Our Take:
Rentt’s next side quest has him retrieving a special flower for Sheila known as the “Dragonblood Rose”.  Despite the low payment, the reward comes from helping the Maalt orphanage, emphasizing the show’s showcase of adventuring.  This flower, formed by the love between a dragon and a human called “Dragonbloods”, offers a powerful medicine that can cure any sickness imaginable.  This includes Malaccumula, a disease that headmistress Lillian possesses that makes her sick whenever she uses divinity magic.
The Dragonblood Rose is located in Tarasque Swamp, known for its poisonous air.  Thankfully, this doesn’t affect Rentt since he’s…well, undead.  However, that’s not the only advantage he has for this seemingly dangerous venture.  Rentt also gains an unexpected ally in the form of a rat monster found in the orphanage basement.  Rentt’s rat familiar, which Lorraine named “Edel”, can also use his divinity magic, which helps defeat a Tarasque Dragon.
Like the previous episode, “Dragonblood Flower” is another side mission that seems to have steered clear of the real issue at hand.  You know, the one with Rentt being the suspect of the kidnappings.  However, this low-pay quest doesn’t take one episode to clear like the one in Tottsu village.  It turns out that the field of Dragonblood Flowers isn’t the only thing Rentt has come across.  He also comes across a male elf who may also be seeking the flower.  The question is, why?
