English Dub Review: SHY “With the Moon……”

Overview:

Members of Amarariruku combine their powers to shatter the top of the black sphere, releasing the city’s fear into the outside world. Mai attempts to sacrifice herself to shield the outside world, but she finds she’s not alone.

Our Take:

Self-sacrifice and anime are some of the most iconic duos. But another of the big ones is the power of friendship, and we managed to get both in this episode. I appreciate seeing Doki of Amarariruku voice his sadness and feelings of betrayal when Mai holds her sister’s hand in happiness. Doki thought he had a likeminded friend in Mai and seeing her find happiness when he thought they would burn the world down together could be quite hurtful. This anime does a great job of letting you in on the feelings of the baddies as much as our heroes.

Shy had her Goku moment in this one because not only did she come to Mai’s rescue but she gave everyone hope. I originally thought her whole fire thing was a little dumb and I didn’t understand but I think it was all leading to this moment and that was awesome. The city was covered in darkness and it didn’t seem like any light could penetrate it. Until Shy came in and shined like the sun and it might be a cheesy tropey moment but it was one of the most enjoyable moments in this anime so far.
