English Dub Review: Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World “Witch: War Between the Sisters (AKA Alice Explodes)”

Overview

Iska and Alice suddenly meet again at the Riesbaden station. Alice then learns that he is the bodyguard for her sister Sisbell. Meanwhile, a major incident occurs in the central province.


Our Take

Alice and Iska reunite, though they still have separate missions. Alice is jealous of Iska and Sisbell’s “date,” and she and Rin tail them to clear up misunderstandings. Alice is frustrated that Iska doesn’t notice her romantic feelings. making him more dense than half the male cast of Black Clover.

Meanwhile, the Three Houses Conference, including Lou, Zoa, and Hydra led by Talisman, targets Queen Nebulis for assassination. And consequently, the “Saint Disciples” are called to join the war and capture Nebulis, with Vichyoiise, Tailsman’s advisor, by their side. Yet various complex political landscape intensifies multiple factions proceed to make their moves…

Overall, the episode managed to blend both humor and character development, showcasing Alice’s jealousy and the ongoing political intrigue. While the romantic comedy elements provide lighthearted moments, the plot’s focus is on assassination and war which helps add depth to an otherwise weird scenario between the two leads. Yet despite some minor problems in animation quality, the show never gets boring and I look forward to seeing where it goes next!
