English Dub Review: A Journey Through Another World: Raising Kids While Adventuring “Mermaids! Dragons!”

Overview:

Takumi and the children helped the merfolk and were generously rewarded. They head to a small island to finally master water magic, but then they encounter a strange monster.

Our Take:

Now things are starting to pick up a little bit. We might have some idea of who the kids are or at the very least where they come from. According to the Leviathan that Takumi encountered it’s believed that they are related to the Water God somehow. I’m not gonna lie I figured they were important somehow but that would be awesome and I hope we get more confirmation of things as the series progresses.

When it comes to any romance this show has somehow been simultaneously refreshing and disappointing. It’s disappointing because there hasn’t been any but that is what makes it refreshing in a way. I thought that surely all of the mermaid ladies would be hitting on Takumi but when they didn’t it got me thinking that not everyone is in love with this guy. It feels like most isekai fall in to the trap of having everyone in love with the main character but so here. While I’m sad we haven’t gotten any romance I do like that now if we do it will feel earned.
