English Dub Review:The Dangers in My Heart: “Karte 16: Anna Likes…”

Overview

Valentine’s Day chocolates hold a special meaning, and Anna wants to know what they mean to Kyotaru.

Our Take

It’s that special time in the show which is the classic obligatory Valentine’s episode which in Japan often involves giving chocolate to the person you like on Valentine’s Day, while Adachi seemed absent-minded, Kyotaro tried to go about his day as usual. Meanwhile, Anna exhibited peculiar behavior, gathering obligatory chocolates from girls and even snatching a handmade one from Moe. After school, Anna nervously asked Kyotaro about ideal chocolates for a special someone, hinting at her hidden feelings. Unknown to Kyotaro, she had something unexpected in her bag.

Anna desperately wants to express her feelings to Kyotaro but finds it challenging. Unbeknownst to her, Kyotaro has confided in his sister about his feelings for Anna, marking a quirky step forward in their relationship. Anna’s frustration after giving Kyotaro a cupcake, only to see him enjoy it obliviously, added a layer of bittersweet humor. Playsen’s sneaky move was thwarted by Kyotaro’s newfound confidence, and the episode beautifully showcased Anna’s struggle to be straightforward, enhancing the romantic tension.

Overall, this episode took Valentine’s Day seriously from Anna’s perspective. Her personality shines through as she curiously tries to figure out Kyotaro’s tastes while nervously interacting with him. The voice acting portraying Anna’s character brought out much of her personality, making this episode the most romantic of the series so far. Kyotaro acting smug and preparing for White Day, while Anna becomes more honest about her feelings, marks a significant development in their relationship. This show continues to get better, illustrating the charming chemistry of Kyotaro and Anna’s bond.
