English Dub Review: My Instant Death Ability is Overpowered “My Guardian Angel is So Overpowered, This Other World is a Piece of Cake!”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
Yogiri and Tomochika search for their classmates and arrive in a nearby town. Inside the city walls, they meet a seemingly kind beastkin with ulterior motives.
Our Take:
Now that we know what Yogiri is capable of regarding his ability, our quest through the isekai world is underway. Of course, considering that they’re more powerful beings residing in this world, including the other classmates, there’s bound to be some stakes involved in the protagonists’ journey. With Yogiri’s instant death ability by his side, this should be easy as pie for the deadpan student and his companion. However, what matters is whether it makes for an entertaining piece of OP isekai content. Regarding the first episode, the series hadn’t gotten off to a pleasant start, and this episode hasn’t improved much either.
The second episode sees Yogiri and Tomochika arriving at a town full of beastkin amid their journey to search for their remaining classmates. There, they immediately ran into trouble when a beastkin named Mieriyu led them to her group of bandits. Fortunately, Yogiri’s instant death ability saves the day again, but based on how powerful it is, Yogiri spends the remaining episode saving his power for emergencies. This shows Yogiri’s comprehension of his extraordinary yet enigmatic ability and his decision not to misuse it for selfish reasons, making him somewhat more bearable than in the previous episode. The duo also gained a new companion in the form of Tomochika’s guardian angel, Mokomoko Dannoura, who’s also the reason behind Tomochika’s lack of sage magic.
The series has yet to make a budge in its quality regarding its fundamental formula. Not to mention, Tomochika continues to be a bit more obnoxious than amusing. However, with the addition of some new adversaries like the vampire sage Lain, that could change for the better. If not, then it should at least be tolerable enough to stand alongside other similar anime.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
