Adult Animation Triumphs In 2024 Emmy Noms ; Adult Swim Blanked

Normally I don’t put a lot of stock in the Emmys, but this year I might. In a year where WB Discovery has been absolutely fist-fucking its adult animation strategy due to one nightmare after another, from wrongfully cancelling Scavengers Reign in favor of additional seasons of a Rick and Morty series that should have been canceled when Justin Roiland was wrongfully terminated from the series. Dan Harmon likes to continue to tout that the fans have ‘accepted’ the new voices of the show’s titular characters, but not only do the social media fans and the viewership not agree with him, but now neither do the Emmy voters. Because the two-time winning Rick and Morty has NOT been nominated for an Emmy this year leaving Adult Swim Emmy-less in the nominations for the first time in decades. If you recall, the seventh season of Rick and Morty was the first to use replacement voices for the series and now we get to see the ramifications of those decisions first-hand.

I’m actually pulling for Scavengers Reign because while I love the other nominees, this series was unjustly canceled while all of the others have been renewed. Here’s hoping that if Scavengers Reign does get the victory, we’ll get another season, preferably on Netflix.
