English Dub Review: The Vexations of a Shut-In Vampire Princess “Wheels of Asterism”

Overview

Sakuna shares a personal tragedy with Komari, but just as their bond deepens, another Crimson Lord makes his presence known…

Our Take

This time around, we further delve into the emotional backstory of Sakuna and her tragic past, highlighting how the Inverse Moon organization devastates families in their quest for the Dark Core. Sakuna, once aligned with the Inverse Moon, now fights alongside Komari against her enslaver, who aims to destroy her. Despite Sakuna’s redemption and efforts, it’s Komari drinking her blood that turns the tide.

Komari’s transformation through Sakuna’s blood proves pivotal, allowing her to decisively win the Crimson Lord’s War and expose Inverse Moon’s deceit. Fueled by Sakuna’s blood which helps prevent any enemy from overpowering her, while Inverse Moon continues to evade detection. Thankfully an unexpected outcome is decided on the Crimson Lord contest

Overall, this episode strikes a balance between intense action and emotional depth mixed with world-building, and character development that continues to impress. Komari’s powerful core implosion, Sakuna’s redemption, and the rest of the fight were pretty damn cathartic after hearing the fucked up stuff Sakuna was subjected to, and how much of a burden it became to her. Despite some minor criticisms, the story hints at potential challenges from the domestic terrorist group “Inverse Moon”, promising more exciting episodes ahead.
