Our Take

Following the intense aftermath of the Crimson Lord’s War, Komari, Vill, and Sakuna find themselves in a light-hearted beach setting. I’d almost call this an “obligatory beach episode” if not for the meeting they later have with Nelia Cunningham, the Moonpeach Princess of the Gerra-Aruka region, who invites them to a tea party on enemy soil. Komari feels embarrassed as she watches Sakuna feed on Vill’s blood but reassures herself that Vill will survive this expedition.

However, the tea party quickly turns serious when Nelia misinterprets Komari’s intentions, believing she plans world domination. Despite Komari’s reluctance to use her powers recklessly, she learns her 7th Unit has bested Nelia’s 1st Unit, leading to unexpected retaliation which once again proves that you shouldn’t give a 15-year-old a leadership position when she’s mostly clueless about what they do, and is herself incapable of curbing her own troops when needed. As tensions rise, Karla Amatsu of Heavenly Paradise proposes an alliance with the Mulnite Empire, but Nelia’s letter reveals ulterior motives…

Overall, despite the wackiness and the series of miscommunications in this episode, the proceedings were balanced with humor and tension as Komari navigates these complex alliances and rivalries. The beach episode and Nelia’s and Karla’s introductions add layers to the story, highlighting Komari’s continuous struggle to maintain peace in the face of chaos with unexpected challenges and political intrigue, keeping things compelling enough to see what comes next!
