English Dub Review: That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime “Seven Days Clergy’s Conspiracy”
OVERVIEW (SPOILERS)
Diablo faces off against the remaining Great Saints but is interrupted by the Seven Luminaries, who also try to finish off Hinata.
OUR TAKE
Interesting that we decided to take a break from the stuff happening between Hinata and Rimiru to focus on…Diablo. And by interesting, I mean actually kinda disappointing. I don’t know if I’ve made this clear, but I don’t really find Diablo all that interesting a character. Heck, I don’t think it would be too far off the mark to just call him a male, more boring version of Shion, who I already don’t really care for! And his fight is pretty much all the stuff I also already find pretty dang irksome in this show’s combat. So much of it is “hey I evolved a new technique with a cool and unique name and it counters the exact thing you were about to do”, and it’s in a fight between a guy whose entire character is just being obsessed with Rimiru and two henchmen who are just short of indistinguishable goons. Seriously, for having such an awesome team name, the Ten Great Saints sure are paper thin in terms of personality. It’s pretty much just Hinata who stands out as a significant character, while the rest get maybe one or two personality traits. Oh, yeah, and one of them is working with some evil family for reasons that will hopefully become clear so we can get a SECOND interesting character among these guys.
And then there are the Seven Luminaries, who have been manipulating things behind the scenes and are just seven copies of the same design, and even THEY are collectively more interesting than most of the Saints. Which I guess is good, since they’ll be the next big bad to fight now that Hinata has been incapacitated. Kinda wish we had seen more of that this episode instead of more Diablo, but they seemed to think that was what we needed. But they were incorrect! And now because I can’t think of one other thing to say regarding Diablo or his fight, I’m just sitting here trying to get this review to the minimum word count! Ah well, we’re at least more than a third of the way through the season and closing in on finishing the first half, which I guess means that we’ll see the end of this conflict and lead straight into the next one that will cover the second half. And if they keep to the pattern they’ve had before, this will also mean another recap episode out of nowhere that will had nothing but time for the overworked and underpaid animators to catch up on their work. So let’s look forward to that I guess?
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
