OUR TAKE

Just when I thought we were all done with pregnancies for the rest of this show, we get more of it in the opening seconds of the episode, adding two more kids to the cast that won’t matter. Also can’t help but notice that, of the four human wives who have given birth to kids, they have only had their names revealed when they became mothers, which…is something with a crap ton of gross implications, not the least of which being that the only development these women have gone through is get kidnapped, fall in love with their kidnapper, and now bear his children. Sorry, Red Head, maybe you’ll get your own name reveal in the season finale once you shoot out a baby. Gobmi also has a bit of a sulk about not having a kid or having gotten a new form, but I’m gonna be frank, I just don’t care about her or any of them! And not just the previously nameless women, I honestly can’t find it within myself to give a single shit about ANY of these characters, which is kind of a problem when we’re only one episode away from the show being over!

Oh, yeah, I should probably talk about the titular “rematch” with its arbitrary colon. I guess I’m going to have to pay some extra attention to these past few episodes when I do the full rewatch for the Season Review, because I honestly don’t remember Gobkichi and his big titty ogre GF wandering off to wherever they ended up. But anywho, the rematch in question. Honestly, the waterdown rivalry between Gobrou and Gobkichi is probably the closest this show has actually had to a genuine romance, even among Gobrou’s SEVERAL WIVES. Heck, keeping one step ahead of his rival is basically the only thing Gobrou has in terms of a concise goal, and yet Gobkichi gets very sporadic focus throughout the series and is really never at risk of surpassing or even being on equal footing with Gobrou. Which is basically why the season finale should be about the two of them embracing their gay feelings and running away together, obviously. I mean, I’m kidding, but can you really expect next week’s finale to be about anything even remotely as interesting as that idea? My guess is it’ll just be more babies and probably dropping off the weird princess who was supposed to be the focus of this arc but has basically been forgotten. Ugh, let this be over now.
