English Dub Review: Chillin’ in Another World with Level 2 Super Cheat Powers “Unseen Wall”

Overview

When Balirossa confides that Gholl has been appearing in her dreams, her three fellow knights smell love in the air. Meanwhile, Gholl halts his army’s advance to try to recruit Flio, a decision that not all demons are happy with…

Our Take

This time around, Balirossa has been tormented by nightmares recently, often involving a wedding with the Demon King Gholl. Blossom and the others have begun discussing love in the context of these dreams. Meanwhile, Demon King Gholl has halted the invasion of the demon army to search for the missing Flio. However, Gholl’s younger brother Yuigard, resentful of his policies, has begun scheming in the shadows.

Despite this, she’s receiving advice from Fenrys, the most open and honest person in the show next to Hiya. The royals have finally realized that Flio is the person they originally summoned. Meanwhile, the Blonde Hero remains clueless. But what I think came at the forefront near the ending when we witnessed the dynamics between Balirossa, Gholl, and Hiya continue to evolve in full display near the end of the episode is what I think shined the most for me here, as it shows that this world still has a long way to go if peace between the two races could ever be achieved…

Overall, this episode was kinda bittersweet, yet it explored the strained relations between humans and demons with subtle underlying themes. As the narrative progresses, it becomes evident that Gholl is now technically their political enemy but at least he’s diplomatic about it, though it’s kinda tough on Balirossa’s end as she’s now having mixed feelings at this point. The brewing power struggle between Gholl and his brother Yuigard also introduces new tensions. With Gholl’s brother having underhanded intentions, and the princess realizing her past mistakes regarding who Flio really is, I’m curious to see where this goes next!
