Our Take

This third and final part of this story opens with a poignant flashback between Xavier and Magneto, setting the stage for the two climactic battles against Magneto on Asteroid M and Bastion and his Sentinels on Earth, due to some stuff we see going on between what turns out to be a psychic battle in response to what Magneto did to Wolverine in the last episode… 

As the X-Men struggle against their formidable foes, unexpected interventions from Jean Grey and Cable turn the tide, showcasing the team’s resilience in the face of adversity. Despite many intense setbacks, the team refuses to surrender, culminating in a climactic showdown with Bastion and a shocking outcome that leaves behind a slew of unanswered questions, and a 6-month time skip that leaves the plot open for even more stories to tell…

Overall, this was one hell of a season finale with various glimpses into the future of this series, that certainly left me (and the audience) with a plethora of unanswered questions. Also, the extra cameos during the chaos were a nice touch and I appreciate the attention to detail of Magneto’s Asteroid M being powered by broken Sentinel parts. It showed that even Magneto himself couldn’t always lift that thing around all the time. He had to somehow internally fix it first so it could float on its own. And yet despite all the brutal, chaotic, dark shit that was lifted from the comic stories, and adapted so elegantly, I’m left with hope that there’s promise of new adventures to come, especially after the mid-credits cliffhanger that left me wanting more which hopefully, isn’t too far away after hearing that recording and script writing is already finished for Season Two.
