English Dub Review: The Duke of Death and His Maid “Dance Party (Part 2)”

Overview:

Daleth tells Walter that she wants to become human, and Nico arrives to tell the group that the final preparations are complete.

Our Take:

This was a fantastic episode it had just about everything I could have asked for. Walter and Daleth dance, right after he proposes to her no less. Their dance scene was especially funny because while timing out their dance steps Walter purposefully skipped over the number two. The Duke comes to his sister’s rescue by accompanying her violin with his piano. This led to a beautiful scene where his mother became wistful and wanted to tussle her son’s hair. This painted her in a new light because I never thought of how hard the Duke’s curse might have been on her.

You might be wondering just how the Duke was able to attend the party when his very touch could kill someone. Well, he found himself in a suit of armor so he would be safe to be around. Alice gave him a hug just to make sure which alarmed the Duke because he didn’t want to accidentally harm anyone especially Alice.

It wasn’t all roses however, as the Duke did manage to have a chat with his mother. With the removal of his curse looming he thought it was time to ask her what she truly thought of him and if she even wanted him to be the heir. She would like for him to be the heir but he would not be able to marry Alice, but unlike other parents in this situation she at least showed that she knew how awful it was to have to behave that way. But the Duke would be a noble and he would need to marry a noble, let’s just hope they can find a way to avoid that little deal breaker.
