English Dub Review: Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation “Afar”

Overview:

Rudeus receives a letter from Paul. The letter explains that Norn and Aisha, Rudeus’s younger sisters, have been sent to join Rudeus. Meanwhile, Nanahoshi continues her research into summoning magic to return to her original world.

Our Take:

This is one of the best series around when it comes to some of the messages it gives. Say what you will about Rudeus, he’s a character that grows and he’s not the only one. Nanahoshi almost gave up on her dream of going home and was nearing a bad end. But with her friends’ help and those caring about her, she has found renewed hope. There was a time I was in a similar situation and it made this episode a bit difficult to watch but I think it’s an important lesson, we’re rarely alone.

One reason I’m a big fan of reading the source material to something and still watching the anime is that it lets you savor a great story. I have a vague idea of what is to come with this season but I don’t remember all the little details and I forgot that Ruijerd returns Rudeus’s sisters to him. Ruijerd is a great character his return is a welcome one.
