English Dub Review: I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince so I Can Take My Time Perfecting My Magical Ability “Sisters, Monsters, Spellbound Swords, and Brothers”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
With his new bearwolf, Shiro, in tow, Lloyd visits his sister, Alieze, in order to learn how to communicate with monsters. Afterward, Lloyd is reunited with another brother, Dian, a blacksmith who is seeking to create the ultimate Spellbound Sword.
Our Take:
Following the defeat of the demon Pazuzu, Lloyd gains a new furry companion: a cuddly bearwolf named Shiro. I can easily admit that Lloyd has picked the right bearwolf to keep because it’s just so adorable when Pazuzu is not controlling it. Of course, for Shiro to be reliable for Lloyd’s quest, the young prince must train his new pet and learn how to communicate with it. While Shiro can pick up simple commands, Lloyd wants to get Shiro to understand his more complex orders.
This brings us to Lloyd visiting his older sister, Alieze, the sixth princess of Saloum, specializing in nature and monsters through love and empathy. However, she’s also very enthusiastic and perky, especially when Lloyd visits her. In fact, she’s so enthusiastic that she kisses Lloyd on the lips, which seems worse when taking it out of context. Besides that, Lloyd figures out Alieze’s secret in communicating with her magical friends other than love. She used mana to telepathically give commands without speaking a word, which Lloyd successfully copied to link his mind with Shiro’s.
The episode’s second half then introduces us to Lloyd’s other brother, Dian, the sixth prince of Saloum. Dian is a blacksmith who overheard Lloyd creating a magical weapon with mana for Albert. After Lloyd shows him his process, he and Dian cooperate to form a fire-based Spellbound Sword to fulfill his dream of making them for people who can’t use magic. Unfortunately, it’s far from easy, as Lloyd’s mana lacks hematite, meaning he would have to get more from the dungeons. In an unsurprising turn of events, Lloyd joins an Adventurer’s Guild, with the party consisting of himself, Sylpha, Tao, and Shiro.
With this episode, the series showcased more of Lloyd’s extended family and their specialties, especially Alieze, the first sister we’ve seen so far out of who knows how many. While Alieze kissing Lloyd on the lips is a massive turnoff for those uncomfortable with the scenario, it’s nice to see the series taking its time to introduce more of its characters. Unfortunately, it also showcased more of the isekai tropes we’re familiar with, mainly Lloyd joining an Adventurer’s Guild, minus the interest in any of them. Plus, the lighting contrast in the first half is so bright that it’s giving me an eyesore. While it still has a few cute moments in its chibi-like animation, the series still struggles to be as magical as the Spellbound Sword.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
