English Dub Review: Gods’ Games We Play “Bookmaker”

Overview:

Nel must face the Bookmaster and bet Fay’s wins in a game in order to try to make a comeback so she can join Fay’s team.

Our Take:

If you love fanservice boy was this the episode for you. Nel and Pearl took a bath together and they really didn’t hold back in their assessment of each other’s umm… assets. I’ve heard breasts referred to in some pretty interesting and unique ways but this episode gave us some clever thigh references. Pearl and Nel are definitely a force to be reckoned with and I suppose we’ll see where this goes, if anywhere.

One thing I didn’t like about Fay’s “plan” this episode is that it made everything about him. It felt like when we got Pearl’s redemption she was the driving force for it. As she should be, it is her redemption after all. But with Nel it seemed like she was just the excuse to get Fay a game with the Bookmaker. Sure, the plan is still for Nel to get her losses removed so she can join the team but as of now it seems like her fate is in Fay’s hand. Now this arc isn’t over yet so I could be wrong but as of now the way it’s going leaves a bad taste in mouth.
