English Dub Review: Black Butler “His Butler, Plotting”

Overview:

Ciel decides to pay back Maurice Cole for his underhanded trick. Since Maurice lives in a different boarding house, he arranges a special exemption for an acquaintance to be admitted to Weston so that he can monitor Maurice.

Our Take:

I wouldn’t go so far as to say that I didn’t like this show before now but after this episode, I’m a huge fan. I’ve learned that don’t mess with Ciel because he will get his revenge and you won’t like it when he does. This episode was awesome and I loved how Ciel managed to catch Maurice in the act. In most anime, I can rest assured that the main character always has the upper hand but as I’ve said my experience with Black Butler is minimal so I’m not sure how Ciel is as a main character. But you can be sure I know now and it has me excited for the rest of this series.

What is also refreshing is that we didn’t have to wait long for Maurice to get what he deserved. It wasn’t some season-long revenge plan, no Ciel got that boy back fast. Let’s see if the remaining episodes can meet this new standard. I might have been sleeping on Black Butler this whole time!
