English Dub Review: An Archdemon’s Dilemma: How to Love Your Elf Bride “I Found a Dragon and I Guess She’s My Daughter Now”

OVERVIEW (SPOILERS)

As Zagan and Nephy adapt to looking after Valefor, Chastille is admonished by Raphael, another one of the twelve Holy Sword wielders, who soon goes after Zagan himself.

OUR TAKE

This episode basically carries on from every new plot line that kicked off last time. Zagan and Nephy are now foster parents, Chastille is trying to quite the Holy Sword life, and there’s a new guy in town who is planning to fight Zagan since Chastille did her best to keep her group from doing so. As such, I guess I’m not sure I have many new insights on what’s going on if things are basically the same stuff as last time, just a little further along. What I can say I think that’s a new thought is that some things seem to be happening a bit too quickly. Not just that Zagan and Nephy are basically foster parents after only living together or knowing each other for a few weeks, since that seems to be something the story is very much self aware of. What I mean is more that Valefor didn’t need any adjustment time at all, apparently, as she is pretty much ride or die to stay with the two of them now, even if she has to stay over a thousand years. I suppose that says more about how desperate she was for some place to call home if she was willing to go for this the moment the opportunity came, but I guess I was expecting more gradual development and seeing more about Valefor to see how she may be slow to trust or forgive.

But…nope, she is the daughter now and nothing’s gonna change that. The other thing is that Zagan seems almost too ready to forgive Barbatos and continues to be super buddy buddy even after he literally kidnapped Nephy just a couple episodes ago. This I also understand to an extent. He’s a strong ally so it would be foolish to let a grudge ruin that, but there’s also the fact that, aside from Nephy, he’s really the only one that Zagan can call his friend, which is about as sad as it is funny. Seems like Chastille could get to become a friend sometime soon, though Barbatos is not attracted to Zagan so he most likely is gonna keep his top spot in the Best Friend Forever rankings. And next week brings the fated confrontation between Zagan and Raphel seems imminent and will likely get pretty destructive and comical. But we will have to wait just a week to find out HOW much. Also it’s the eighth anniversary of the first thing I got posted here, so that’s neat too!
