Review: Star Wars: The Bad Batch “Into the Breach”
OVERVIEW (SPOILERS)
The Bad Batch rendezvous with Echo and manage to latch onto a ship headed for Tantiss, while Omega begins her plan of escape from the facility once more.
OUR TAKE
Third episode from the end of the whole show aaaaand yeah there’s not a ton of new stuff to discuss. Echo is FINALLY back with the group (though how funny would it be if he left in the next episode and just was not around at all for the final one?) and they’re as reunited as possible before going to get Echo, who is back at the facility and already hatching plans to get out again. She gets to meet the kids we saw a couple episodes ago and get them in on the plan, and if they’re all force sensitive then maybe there’ll be some incoming moments where they all manage to overpower some guards. Oh, or maybe they’ll force push Hemlock over the side of the building! THAT would be pretty satisfying, if a little dark, but those two things basically summarize everything about this show anyway. And again, if we wanted to make things extra sad, we could reveal that clone assassin was actually a still alive Tech! It is definitely not ruled out yet and we’ve got two more episodes, it could happen! Or that could turn out to be a misguided fan theory, but even that is practically tradition for Star Wars media at this point.
That basically covers all the points of this episode by itself, aside from Rampart getting a little chance to shine, so I guess now we turn it to talking about how I hope the series will end. I did mention how this show can’t finish in any way that has any big change in a good way, considering that there’s still eighteen years of horrible Empire stuff on the way before the Death Star gets destroyed. I don’t know if I’ve mentioned it before, but I do think there is a very real chance that most of the Bad Batch just don’t make it. Omega dying would be too sad, so she’s most likely safe, but the rest are old (looking) men who have shown they have a hard time settling down. MAYBE Crosshair survives to lay out the irony thick, but I have little doubt we’ll be seeing a body count starting next episode. I even bet I know how it’ll start, with a big shocker death at the end of next week, probably Wrecker if I had to pick, followed by the rest slowly getting picked off on the way out of the facility, but taking Hemlock down in a pyrrhic victory, possibly Emerie’s hand. Place your bets on who bites it next time!
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
