English Dub Review: The Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic “The True Face of the Black Knight!”

Overview

Now that Usato’s first clash with the Demon Lord’s army is over, he’s going to have to deal with the aftermath—including a prisoner of war.

Our Take

Following the war’s conclusion, Usato’s crucial role in the knights’ victory is evident, particularly in the capture of the Black Knight. As preparations for the next battle commence, the Kingdom of Llinger seeks to interrogate the captured Black Knight. Surprisingly, she requests to see Usato, indicating a genuine plea for assistance. Usato’s healing magic becomes vital as he aids in her recovery.

Meanwhile, under Rose’s guidance, Usato faces rigorous training challenges, accompanied only by the Black Knight. Despite Suzune’s humorous remarks, the situation remains serious, especially with the involvement of Princess Celia. Additionally, Usato encounters Rose who has decided to restrain the Black Knight of her powers and make her part of the rescue team as a form of “rehabilitation”. and much later, the Fox girl, who previously provided Usato with future visions. Now, has proposition for Usato in exchange for her indirect assistance…

Overall, despite not serving as the true season finale, the episode offered a decent epilogue of sorts. While the title hints at a revelation about the Black Knight’s identity, the episode focuses more on the aftermath of Usato being requested to do different things that all commonly involve propositions of sorts and some of these for the season finale may end up as cliffhangers to potentially end on.
