English Dub Review: The Witch and the Beast “The Witch and the Demon Sword: Final Act”

Overview

Ashgan has lost control, and Ashaf finally unleashes Guideau to stop it. But even with the curse undone, can the beast stand up to the Demon Sword’s apocalyptic power?

Our Take

In a climactic showdown, the ancient demon sword, Ashgan, is finally unleashed after centuries of being sealed. Its overwhelming power wreaks havoc, prompting Guideau to regain his true form by connecting with Helga to resist Ashgan’s influence. Despite Cugat’s attempts to combat the sword with elemental powers, the focus shifts to Guideau, leading to a clash between two formidable forces that threaten to bring about the world’s destruction.

The intensity of the battle surrounding Ashgan’s emergence captivates viewers, despite some shortcomings in animation quality, the fight scenes remain captivating, complemented by eerie monster designs and the grand spectacle of the aftermath along with what to do with the guilty parties involved. However, this conflict ultimately brings an end to the chapter of Ashgan, averting catastrophe…

Overall, this was an impressive episode, with its thrilling action and intriguing twists in terms of both character dynamics along with a new shift in the status quo. Despite feeling sympathy for Helga and the demon sword, the resolution of their intertwined fate adds an open-ended possibility for two to return at some point in a later storyline. But with only three episodes remaining, I’m curious to see how the rest of this season ends.
