English Dub Review: I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince so I Can Take My Time Perfecting My Magical Ability “Like Qi Techniques and Enchantment Magic”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
Deep within the dungeon lies a demonic lich that has laid many adventurers to rest. After forcing Robert to escape, Tao faces the threat alone but is overwhelmed by the difference in power. However, just as the lich is about to finish her off…
Our Take:
Lloyd’s first dungeon-crawling adventure with his first ally has hit a snag, thanks to the dungeon’s treasure-guarding boss. What seemed like an easy-going treasure hunt quickly became a battle for their lives, as Lloyd (in his “Robert” disguise) and Qi master Tao faced a power-hungry lich, who gained magic and wisdom by consuming its victims. The first half of the episode has Tao using her Qi techniques to fight the lich alone but is quickly outmatched by the lich’s incredible power, something unheard of in a low-level dungeon. Fortunately, Lloyd arrived just in time to use his Qi breathing technique that Tao taught him in last week’s episode to destroy the lich and obtain the dungeon’s treasure: an old dagger infused with mana essence.
This brings us to the episode’s second half, where Lloyd and Grim attempt to make their own mana essence. They discovered that the mana is made out of silver, oil, and miratine, so Lloyd gathered the ingredients from his father and Sylpha to perform his experiment. This leaves him with the only test subjects capable of this assessment: the swords from Prince Albert’s guards. After many instances of trial and error, Lloyd managed to infuse his homemade mana into fifty swords, resulting in Albert inviting his young brother to take them for a test run.
Overall, the series has slightly improved with this episode, but there is still a long way to go for this experiment to be successful narrative-wise. The first half was the best part regarding Lloyd’s OP moment against the lich and Tao’s determination to get stronger through her Qi techniques. Speaking of which, Tao hasn’t found out about Lloyd’s disguise, but I’m sure she will soon enough. As for the humor, the only scene I thought was actually quite humorous was Grim getting his butt handed to Sylpha in his Lloyd disguise. Hopefully, this improvement will continue with Lloyd and Albert’s monster hunt.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
