English Dub Review: Classroom of the Elite “Change your desires rather than the order of the world.”

Overview:

The class narrowly lost to Class A in the final exam, and was demoted back to Class D. However, the students showed growth throughout the year. Horikita, in particular, having grown as a leader requests to dissolve the alliance with Class B.

Our Take:

I don’t know why anime and lots of other media believe that the best way to show a woman has character development is by having her cut her hair. I’m all for Horikita’s development because she’s come a long way and it was refreshing to see her and her brother patch things up. But I always find it hilarious that there needs to be a “visual” representation that they have changed. You don’t see that all the time with male characters unless we’re talking Dragonball Z where Goku gets a different hair color every time he powers up.

Jokes about character development aside we got some looks into Ayanokoji’s motivations. He is resigned to his fate that this time in school will be the only time he gets to act normally. After he graduates he will return to where he came from and probably take on a mentor role. It’s one of the first times I felt bad for Ayanokoji, I don’t know if this anime will cover all of the source material but it would be nice to see him be normal. There is one episode left in this season and I hope it ends with a bang.
