Our Take

Peter ar 23 minutes, skipped frames

Literally at the start of this week’s episode, Lois and Chris lament the fact that they’ve done this exact bit before in the episode entitled “Connie’s Celica” where Lois comes onboard as a music teacher. Granted they try to change things up and put on a wig for the Alex Borstein-voiced characters, but you know what they say about lipsticks and pigs and such, however I actually thought the slight change in premise was enough to get me going.

Moreover, this week’s episode just seemed to have the good ol’ giggles. Between Peter’s Mac turning on, to Quagmire showing up out of nowhere, and even the group of teenagers all of whom had just the dumbest shit to say, you’d be hard-pressed not to come out of this week’s episode without a few laughs. Add in the fact that the cutaways were fantastic tonight and plentiful with Chris’ dream sequence and Peter’s shampoo commercial being highlights for the evening.

That said, I did notice some technical issue near the end of the episode, most notably a scene at ~23 minutes where Lois is talking to Chris but Alex Borstein slips in a “Peta”. It’s probably something that should have been caught on the final edit, but wasn’t. Moreover, it looks like some of the animation frames near the end started to skip a bit as well, probably needing another look-over before being sent back.

Technical issues and unoriginal plot aside, I still found myself cracking up quite a bit this week on Family Guy. The show seems to be coming out of it’s shell of worrying about cancel culture and starting to embrace some of the attributes that made the series great in the first place.
