English Dub Review: Solo Leveling “This Is Frustrating”

Overview:

Jinwoo wants to get the Elixir of Life, so he decides to take on some more raids.

Our Take:

Jinwoo accepts Jinho’s offer to join him on 19 C-rank raids in order to start a new guild. Jinwoo only wants to go on raids with Jinho and nobody else. Jinho agrees to the terms and he says he’ll take care of finding raids recruiting for the guild.

Meanwhile, Jinwoo receives an urgent request from the Hunter’s Association. It turns out that most of the other survivors from the raid that nearly killed him received the same request. They’re going to be entering a D-rank gate along with a B-rank hunter and three convicts who are acting as substitute hunters. Chiyui Song volunteers to be the leader much like in his previous raid. Joohee also wants to give hunting one more try, especially since she’ll be with Jinwoo again.

The setup this episode shows is interesting, but that’s all that really happens. It’s a fairly slow episode and it’s not very eventful. It gives some side characters focus, which I appreciate. Plus, I’m interested in how Jinwoo’s party will fare given the trauma they had to deal with.
