English Dub Review Laid Back Camp “Cape Ohmama in Winter”

Overview

Chiaki, Aoi, and Ena buy new camping gear, and they set out to go camping at Lake Yamanaka…

Our Take

Continuing the “Lake Yamanaka trip” with Chiaki, Aoi, and Ena. Just when you think it’s smooth sailing for the three, they begin to learn the hard way of this location’s reputation that it can get cold to the point of ridiculousness in “-15 C” weather which also doesn’t help that super cold weather like this can fuck with your mobile phone’s battery life which I didn’t know was possible. Despite the challenges, they at least make efforts to stay warm and soldier on with their camping adventure.

Meanwhile, Rin receives a notification about their location while doing household chores, initially seeming like a minor subplot. However, it takes an unexpected turn when Rin contacts their teacher, Ms. Toba, about the situation. This subplot adds a wholesome and comical element to the episode, providing a unique twist to the narrative. The episode concludes with Nadeshiko visiting Rin to make a simple request…

Overall, this was another fun camping trip that almost went sour and hectic halfway through. If there’s anything I’ve learned the most, it is that if you’re willing to camp someplace, at least learn about the weather in advance. Even without any dangerous wildlife, camping can be dangerous when you don’t consider the many ways it can go wrong if you go unprepared. But with the way the episode ended, I’m curious if Rin will help fulfill Nadeshiko’s request to teach her what she wants to know.
