English Dub Review: Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki “If you don’t make up your mind, the story won’t advance”

Overview

Things get awkward around Mimimi after her “recent confession”, and Fumiya Tomozaki finally chooses the two girls he’d like to pursue when Aoi Hinami gives him more tasks in pursuit of his goals…

Our Take

In the aftermath of the festival, Fumiya undergoes a significant period of self-reflection, delving deep into his own personality and grappling with the choices he made during the event. Mimimi, on the other hand, struggles to confront the issues that have arisen, attempting to overlook them but finding it increasingly difficult to do so. Meanwhile, Aoi takes charge of the situation, devising a challenging romantic roadmap with a strict time limit, adding further complexity to the unfolding dynamics.

As Fumiya navigates the aftermath of his confession, he finds himself faced with new tasks from Hinami, all of which revolve around pursuing both Fuka and Mimimi. On Fuka’s side, preparations for the upcoming play provide a backdrop for interactions, leading to an intriguing conversation between her and Fumiya. With Mimimi having made a move, the question now looms as to whether Kikuchi will follow suit or if Fumiya will take the initiative first.

Overall, the episode introduces new stakes intertwined with the planning for the cultural festival, maintaining a sense of realism in the interactions between characters. However I actually don’t like how Aoi is pushing all this love thing when she herself doesn’t have a love life. I’m left with so many questions about her potentially duplicitous nature, or her ironic detachment. What is she trying to accomplish? Hopefully we’ll find out the end-result as this season has 4 episodes left and a lot can happen at this point…
