American Family Association Wants Hazbin Hotel Canceled

The pilot episode on YouTube just surpassed 100 million views and the series became the largest global debut for any new animated series but leave it to right-wing conservatives to find wrong of Prime Video’s Hazbin Hotel.

Enter the American Family Association, a right-wing conservative mom blog that like similar organizations such as the Parents Television Council tries to deem everything television to be evil and non-becoming of whatever televangelists thing is considered acceptable. In this instance, the AFA’s focus is on Hazbin Hotel noting the series doesn’t mention “God” enough, has too much foul language (we probably agree with that one a tad), and the series will somehow attract children to a streaming service that they have no way of subscribing to until they are old enough to make money.

Ergo, the AFA has launched a petition by way of the One Million Moms organization, yet another hate group that has for decades been an anti-LGBT, anti-free speech, and anti-religious freedom. So, they should be happy to know that Hazbin Hotel has been renewed for a second season from Prime Video and is currently in production.

Hazbin Hotel follows Charlie, the princess of Hell, as she pursues her seemingly impossible goal of rehabilitating demons to peacefully reduce overpopulation in her kingdom. After a yearly extermination imposed by angels, she opens a hotel in the hopes that patrons will be “checking out” into Heaven. While most of Hell mocks her goal, her devoted partner Vaggie, and their first test subject, adult-film star Angel Dust, stick by her side. When a powerful entity known as the “Radio Demon” reaches out to assist Charlie in her endeavors, her crazy dream is given a chance to become a reality.

Created by Vivienne Medrano, Hazbin Hotel is based on her popular animated pilot released on YouTube in 2019, which  quickly gained over 92 million views and a rabid worldwide fan base. The series blends adult humor, unforgettable characters, and catchy musical numbers, creating a wholly original and unique world.

Vivienne Medrano serves as executive producer and directed all episodes. Joel Kuwahara, Dana Tafoya-Cameron, and Scott Greenberg (Season One) also serve as executive producers. Hazbin Hotel is produced by A24 and FOX Entertainment’s Emmy award-winning animation studio Bento Box Entertainment.
