English Dub Season Review: The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, REALLY Love You Season One
Overview:
Rentarou Aijou has been rejected 100 times. However, his time is now because he is now destined to have 100 soulmates…at once.
Our Take:
Rentarou Aijou is a good-looking and kind high school boy. He was rejected by 100 girlfriends despite this. He goes to a shrine and the god of the shrine appears to tell him that he will have 100 soulmates by the time he finishes high school. Rentarou also can’t break their hearts or else they’ll die.
He falls in love with six different girls throughout the first season and they’re all pretty different from each other for the most part. They all have unique personalities and they’re all enjoyable to watch.
Rentarou falls in love with a girl who’s proper on the outside but is a giant pervert deep down, a tsundere, a mute who loves romance novels, a girl who only cares about efficiency, a chemist who enjoys making drugs and an older woman respectively. My personal favorite of the girls is Nano, but I like them all. Some are just more enjoyable to watch than others.
Rentarou himself is a solid lead. He clearly cares about every soulmate he comes into contact with. He might be adverse to this idea at first, but he quickly takes it seriously. He’s able to commit himself to each soulmate equally, which is impressive.
The show’s greatest strength is its humor. It’s self aware and is packed with fourth wall breaks and clever references. The gags are off the wall, such as the the vice principal punishing boys with a French kiss. Every episode puts a smile on my face and sometimes makes me question why I like it, but in the best way possible. Some of these scenarios would be pretty messed up if the show was meant to be taken seriously. It presents them in an unbelievable way since the show is basically a harem parody.
The voice acting in this show is great. The whole cast sounds like they’re having a blast. It’s impossible to pick a standout performance since they’re all great. However, I love the fact that Ian Sinclair is a narrator for the swimsuit episode. That’s one of the reasons that episode is my favorite. The show’s regular narrator, Jim Foronda, is still very good as well.
I really like the visuals, especially all of the different character designs. This is a very bright and colorful show, which is usually always a plus in my eyes.
I love this show a lot. I think it’s sweet and hilarious without trying too hard to be either. it has a lot of fun characters and a great balance of different types of humor. There’s a dud every now and then as far as jokes go, but this is still a very fun show to watch. I can’t wait to see more of Rentarou’s girlfriends in the second season. After all, he still has a long way to go before he gets to 100.

"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
