English Dub Review: The Weakest Tamer Began a Journey to Pick Up Trash “On the Path to Adventure”

OVERVIEW (SPOILERS)

Ivy encounters the Blazing Sword, a group of dudes who have made a party, and decides to start traveling with them.

OUR TAKE

And just like that, we enter the next arc pretty smoothly, introducing a bunch of new characters right away, and this time all of them being good guys we’ve seen in the OP! The Blazing Sword isn’t exactly the most creative party name, but it’s certainly a name I would expect SOME group to name their party at some point. As for the roster, we have the fearless leader Seyzelk, blind warrior Nouga, Legolas wannabe Shifale, pyro magic user Lattura, and apparently a tamer who is on loan from a different party altogether, which I guess means that Ivy has an opening once this guy goes back. But yeah, we have a full blown adventurer party that it looks like, again based on the OP, that Ivy is probably going to end up joining. That sounds fun, heck that even sounds pretty exciting, though it kinda once again feels like they’re not really taking full story advantage of it just yet. Then again, this is only the first episode we’re meeting them and there are at least five more episodes left, so for all we know, some sort of horrible twist is coming where it turns out they’re actually awful people!

I kinda doubt it though, given how things have progressed so far. The story has actually been pretty straightforward with who is good or bad from the get go, aside from Ivy’s family who of course start good but then turn when her stars are revealed. But since then, people who she’s met that start good have stayed good, while others she meets that start bad have stayed bad. So, I’m sure that the Blazing Saddles or whatever will probably stay really good guys who just want to treat Ivy well, especially since they’re noticing that she’s pretty traumatized and is doing whatever she can to stay useful. They do also think she’s a little boy, which is what she’s been pretending to be since she went off on her own (I just haven’t really brought it up since it hasn’t been relevant), so that’ll be kinda awkward if they go about revealing the truth to them. There’s also handling Ciel, who Ivy’s kept pretty arms length in order to not startle people. Plus, we have some more foreshadowing about how Sora seems to be leveling up over time, though where that’s heading still seems pretty unclear. Guess we’ll see in the remaining five episodes!
